a time to grieve; a time to dance

Have you ever found a glistening coin on the bed of a flowing stream? You point at it but your friend isn't quite able to see it. Or maybe your friend is pointing at something at a short distance and, for all your neck-craning, you can't quite see what it is.

This blog is exactly that. This is me pointing at something that I know is there and hope you'd see, too. Whether it's at a golden mask at the bottom of the well or an eagle soaring high in the sky, I wish you Happy Looking!

Collaborating with YHWH the Holy Spirit

Julia Cameron describes where her lessons inscribed in The Artist’s Way came from in her essay My Own Journey from the Introduction Chapter. There she said she stopped drinking, because she admitted drinking would kill her and her creativity.

This has got me thinking of my own toxic behaviours that I must commit to stop. Romans 13:12-14 says “Walk out on your old dark life and put on the armour of light. Do not fall into the patterns of dark living: wild partying, drunkenness, sexual depravity, decadent gratification, quarreling, and jealousy. Instead, wrap yourself in the Lord’s Jesus.”

Julia surrendered to the God of Creativity and let the creative force work through her. This reminds me of Zechariah 4:6, “Not by power, not by might, but by my Spirit, says Yahweh.” This is what I forgot for a while. I am glad to be reminded. To collaborate with Yahweh, the Holy Spirit. That I no longer behave according to my sinning artist identity, but to my new identity in Christ: sane, sober, saved, creative.

Julia told Mark Bryan: Get out of the way. Let it work through you. Accumulate pages, not judgments.

Yes, it sounds simple, and it can be really simple to get [ego] off the equation and simply create by God’s Spirit. Amen.
